Don't Know How to Pose? Here is How I Guide My Boudoir Clients
You Actually Don’t Need to Know What to Do in Front of the Camera

If the thought of a boudoir session excites you and makes you nervous at the same time, you’re far from alone! Probably the most common worry I hear from clients before their session is “I don’t know how to pose.” But, you don’t need to know how to pose at all! That’s my job, not yours.
Boudoir photography is about so much more than just snapping pretty pictures! It’s about creating a safe, encouraging space where you can relax, feel beautiful, and let your confidence shine. And the way we get there is through guided posing.
You Don’t Need Experience
Most of my clients have never been in front of a professional camera before, or at least not in nearly such a vulnerable way. They’re everyday people like you and me—teachers, nurses, business owners, moms, divorcees, newlyweds—who walk in excited but with a touch of nerves. That’s completely normal!
What surprises them is how natural the process feels once we start. You don’t have to practice in the mirror, study Pinterest poses, or worry about looking “awkward.” From the moment you step into the studio, I’ll guide you through everything. I have got you, literally from head to toe.
Guided Posing: How It Works
Here’s what you can expect during your session:
- Step-by-step direction. I’ll demonstrate poses, show you how to move, and adjust small details (like the angle of your chin or placement of your hands) so everything looks flattering.
- Tailored to your body. Every body is unique, so I customize poses that highlight your favorite features and fit your comfort level.
- Constant encouragement. I’ll be cheering you on the entire time, making sure you feel confident and supported.
Think of it less like “posing” and more like being gently guided. You’ll be so busy following my directions that you won’t remember to feel nervous!
Why Posing Matters in Boudoir
The right pose can completely change how you see yourself. A slight adjustment of posture can lengthen your body, highlight your curves, and bring out your best angles. Posing isn’t about perfection, it’s about capturing you at your most radiant, confident, and real. Just check out the women and couples in my portfolio here.
And when you look back at your photos, you’ll see not just beautiful images, but proof of your strength, your softness, your femininity, your spark—whatever it is you want to celebrate.
You Bring the Spirit, I’ll Handle the Poses
All you need to do is show up—whether a little nervous, super excited, or somewhere in between. I’ll handle the rest: the lighting, the poses, the encouragement, and the celebration of you. By the end of your session, you won’t just be comfortable in front of the camera, you’ll be amazed at how natural and fun it feels. So don’t stress about posing. That’s the art I bring to the table. Your only job is to let yourself shine!
